Radical Rainbow

So in CIP we are arranging a mufti day for our school, the theme is Radical Rainbow and my group picked it. The theme that Radical Rainbow was based around was CrAzY You may be asking yourself some questions so here are some I will answer for you.

👉What was the planning for this event? First we made a poster with all the information and then went around and stuck our posters where people will see them.

👉Who are we raising money for? Kids Can, for all the kids that go without the basics.

👉What makes a succesful mufti may? Collaboration, working together as a team in my opinion.

👉What jobs did I have/will I have? My job was making a poster.

👉How is this spreading kindness to our community? By showing we care about the children in need and raising awareness for them.

My Felling About Ella West Coming To School

Earlier this team we commented on Ella Wests (an authors) blog and we got a reply,
When I found out I got a reply I got quite excited only to find out that wasn't even the most exciting thing that would happen to me that day… Later on that same day my teacher got a phone call from Ella West saying that she will be happy to come to Hornby High School and meet us. Not only was our teacher happy dancing all around the room…. So was the reading group I'm in. I'm pretty sure everybody is very excited and so amazed that an author would want to come see Us.

We are so happy that you are going to come see us and we are looking forward to see you!

Biomass

Aim: To compare the amount of gas that is produced from different types of biomass.

Material-

1. (3x) plastic botel
2. 3 ballons
3. permanent marker  
4. disposable gloves   
5.  Cup
6. Fresh horse manure 
7.   mashed banana 
8.   funnel 
9.  water. 

Steps:

1.  label the bottles... Horse manure... horse manure and mashed banana... Horse manure vegetable peelings.
2.   place one cup of manure in one bottle and fill the bottle and leave a little room in the bottle for air.
3.  Place one cup of manure in the bottle and add mashed banana and fill with water and leave a little bit of air.
4.  place the ballons on the 3 bottles.
5.  Watch.

   

Investigation.

Research the following Biomass fuels. You will need to:

Write a definition of fuel.

Write 8 sentences about fuel. 

• How is it made? 
• Where is it made? 
• What is it made with? 
• What countries use it? 
• What uses will it have in the future?  

Place 1 image of the fuel.

Biomass Fuel types.

Name Agricultural crops and wood fuels.

Research: Wood biomass is the main source of wood energy in New Zealand. It comes in a number of forms, including firewood, shavings, sawdust, wood chips, agricultural crops and bark.

Name Animal waste.

Definition: Animal wastes are commonly considered the excreted materials from live animals

Research: Horse manure cow manure...

Name: Biogas

Definition: Gas

Research: Gaseous fuel, Especially methane, Produced by the fermentation of organic matter.

Name: Biofuels

Definition: Natural gases.

Research: vegetable oils and liquid animal fats green diesel derived from algae and other plant sources.
